Operation Reassurance

Operation Reassurance is a program the Highlands Police Department offers to senior citizens who live alone. The Program is designed for enrolled participants to call the police department every morning. Should a participant fail to call by 11:00 a.m., a police officer is sent to their home to assure their well being.

The Operation Reassurance Program has been in existence for over twenty years at the Highlands Police Department and has proven its value many times. On Several occasions the responding officer(s) have found a participant to have fallen or who became ill, preventing them from contacting the department for assistance.

Officers of the Highlands Police Department have rendered assistance and called for medical personnel and family members when needed. Our dispatchers have also been instrumental in certain circumstances when they have sensed that something was not right while talking with a participant and sent an officer to check.

This is a free program which is open only to Highlands residents who are elderly and live alone. To become eligible the participant is required to complete a short application to provide emergency contact and medical history information to the police department.

Please contact Lt. William Armenti or Diane Alvator @ 732-872-1158 for further information or enrollment.
