Message From The Chief

Welcome,
It is my honor to serve as the 2010 Chief of the Highlands Fire Department.

On behalf of the members of the Highlands Fire Department, let me welcome you to the Highlands Fire Department's Web page. The Highlands Volunteer Fire Department is comprised of over 50 dedicated, community serving people, who are highly trained and proud of their profession. The Highlands Fire Department serves more than 5000 plus residents and visitors and has been proudly serving the community of Highlands for over 110 years.

The Highlands Fire Department is charged with the responsibility of providing professional and efficient fire suppression, fire rescue services including vehicle extrication and water rescue, emergency preparedness, fire prevention and public education to the community of Highlands. The goal is to provide the highest level of service in the most efficient manner possible; to constantly safeguard and preserve life and property against the elements of fire and disaster through effective preparation, training and education; and to respond to all emergencies in a safe effective manner with sufficient resources to address any situation.

The Highlands Fire Department is a key member in providing community safety. We accept and embrace this challenge with vigor and commitment. As the world evolves and our community grows and matures, our mission has also evolved to one that is not simply confined to “traditional” fire services. Therefore, your fire department continues to enhance and revolutionize services, and is dedicated to providing this exceptional service to our residents, business owners, and visitors of Highlands. The volunteers of the Highlands Fire Department demonstrates integrity, loyalty and professionalism in providing the best possible emergency service to our community, and to making a difference in the lives of the people we serve.

As Fire Chief, I am very proud of the interest, strong camaraderie and dedication exhibited by the firefighters of the Highlands Fire Department.  I believe their continued enthusiasm will make this organization one of the finest, most productive and efficient volunteer Fire Departments serving their community. I would encourage our residents to take the time to meet the men and women of our Fire Department, especially while at many of the community or fire department events throughout the year. All of our members are “neighbors helping neighbors". In addition, I would also encourage anyone with interest in serving their community and becoming a firefighter to contact us. We are always looking for new members to train for service, become a firefighter, and to continue this historic tradition.

Furthermore, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support and generous donations throughout the year. Your support has provided our department with the necessary training, and equipment to assist us in providing this essential emergency service to you.

Once again, welcome to our web page, and please contact us if you have any additional questions or have suggestions to improve our services to you. Contact us @ 732-889-6929 or email firedept@highlandsborough.org

I look forward to serving as your Fire Chief in 2010, and I would like to wish everyone a healthy, happy and safe 2010.

Sincerely,

David M Parker
