Katz’s Luncheonette, thankful for Highlands Senior Citizens
Summer House
On Saturday, November 18th, 2017 at 5:00pm, Katz’s Luncheonette, 208 Bay Ave, hosted their Annual Thanksgiving Dinner at PTAK Towers in Highlands. Katz’s proprietors, Ben Saini and his wife Radhi, along with Vick and Pinky Gandhi, their children and a team of volunteers, prepared a feast fit for a king for over 50 Highlands senior citizens. Ben, who has been in business in Highlands for over 21 years, started the tradition, as many of his customers were senior citizens that may not otherwise have an enjoyable turkey dinner over the holidays.

The dinner is always free and takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving in the PTAK cafeteria. Ten turkeys and other Thanksgiving fare were cooked by volunteers and brought to PTAK Towers. The annual dinner welcomes all senior citizens that reside in Highlands. The dinner could not be possible without Ben’s staff and volunteers as their preparation for the event takes several days prior. Volunteers assisting included Bill Caizza, Highlands, Wayne and Pam Occhipinti, Pam Kurdes, Dawn Hartsgrove, Kathy Smock, Steve and Patty Solop and Amit Chhabra. The dinner is a labor of love and a great community tradition, something Highlands seniors look forward to every year.
