Dear Residents, Welcome to the Highlands Volunteer Fire Department website. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for their support and generous donations throughout the year. The Highlands Fire Department provides a highly trained and well-equipped team of firefighters earning its reputation for excellence by a long tradition of professionalism and caring, since 1900. Our members perform tasks of incredible complexity, handling crises, following through tedious, painstaking work, with persistence and excellence. Our Department is comprised of fifty volunteer firefighters dedicated to the preservation of life and property. With two companies operating in one house, the volunteers respond to approximately two hundred calls per year. Through delivery of safety education, fire prevention and disaster coverage, our volunteer Department combats a potential killer that lurks in every neighborhood.
